40 OR NOT

Lee Wushu Arts Theatre and its artistic director, distinguished malaysian Wushu athlete Lee Swee Seng present their new show, a multidisciplinary work 40 or Not – a bold statement about searching oneself in the world where time dictates its own rules. True to the philosophy that “martial as an arts form”, the director combines the visual power and aesthetics of Wushu with dance, drama, multimedia, and other artistic expressions. Bringing traditional martial arts culture onto the professional stage, the theater has become Malaysia’s one and only the only professional troupe specializing in Martial Dance. Lee Swee Seng's works have captivated the stages of the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Singapore, and dozens of other countries.

Four artists in their forties: a musician, a poet, a martial arts master and a dancer. They re-examine and explore their paths: reflecting on the past, pondering the present, and trying to look into the future, each with their own personality and experience. The delicate dance vocabulary expresses the emotions deepest of their heart. Martial arts symbolize tenacity in the face of life: “age is just a number on one’s way towards the dream”.
